Belated Thank You

I need to say a very belated thank you to V of Bumble Beans for organizing this quilt, sent to give me hugs during my recovery from surgery. I don't know what the whole process was or what everyone did, but I got this wonderful two-sided quilt made by some blogger friends (all of whom are listed in my sidebar).

There are blocks on the top from Sarah of House of Krom, Threadlines Kathie B, Quilt Diva Julie, Comicbooklady, Kristin of Knit One Quilt Two and Siobhan of Scraps and Threadtales as well as V.

The other side of the quilt is all about love and kitties. Lynne of Patcherie Menagerie made the Purring 4 You block and Roz of Counterpane signed her heart in embroidery.

Cheri of Jovaliquilts made blocks which got lost in the mail (argh) and Brenda of Scraps and Strings sent some too--pictured here-- but they didn't get to V in time. (I've got them now and will do something fun with them.) Nonetheless, V included their names along with everyone else's in the quilting.

I wanted to include a picture of me using the quilt, but I looked horrible in every one. So instead you get Pokey rolling very appropriately by the kitty emoticon):

And Lily on the back of the recliner - love the kitty fabric she's posed on:

[That's an older pic by the way. I've felt well enough to do some sewing, so I've progressed on this Hope quilt.]

Speaking of gifts in the mail, Clare of Dordogne Quilter sent me this little charmer:

Thank you all so very much and I apologize for taking so long to acknowledge the lovely presents.

Also arriving in the mail, a package of Bell Bottoms from the Fabric Square Shop. I love the red and white fabric in particular, but look at all the bright colors and bold patterns.

I had my final visit to the doctor who did the surgery - everything was a-okay in my belly. Clean bill of health is a woohoo, but it's gonna take another couple of weeks to finally be over the fatigue. I've been having hot flashes like crazy - stupid menopause. So I'm now on a low dose of estrogen which please, please, please will help with that and maybe the fatigue too.

What a fun get well gift! I'm so glad you're doing well. Take that stupid menopause with a grain of salt. Hot flashes = sweating = exercise.

I'm really glad you love your quilt. It was a really quick thing.. I think we had about a week. I was on vacation, so I had time. Thanks for posting pictures.

Good luck with the estrogen, it should help you sleep. Hot flashes are a bitch!

Blogging friends are great--how nice your gifts are, so fitting. Hope you continue to return to your normal self over the next couple of months so you are full strength at Christmas :)

I'm so glad the quilt arrived safely. It was such a great project because it was so fast. Thanks again to V for organizing! I love the kitties on the kitty. So appropriate. I hope you can take care of those hot flashes. They are a real bummer and I can't take the estrogen so I'm stuck with them.

V asked me to do something, but I know I wouldn't have been able to get it to her in time. So you got your little house instead. Even if I say so myself, I love the sky fabric.

The main quilt is so gorgeous - full of colour.

Stupid menopause!!

Oh darn, how fun it would have been to be part of the quilt...my thoughts and prayers have been with you regardless ( like the force only better :0)!
Glad you are feeling better......yeah well hot flashes...I feel your burn! I just wish I could sleep again....let us know if the hormone treatment works.
I'm moving towards 60 and still having "power surges".

Happy Sewing

My hugs block was conceived and frantically stitched during the "off" shifts when DH and I were staying with MIL 24/7 during her final hospital stay.

Solids? That was a REAL challenge for me which required a flying visit to my LQS that carries pretty much zero in solids... anyhow, it all got wonkily done, we're SO HAPPY you like it, and mostly we're ELATED that you're feeling better (in time the fatigue will ease, the hot flashes will too - in the big picture they're mighty annoying but not terribly life threatening).

Here's to YOU!! WOO HOO!!

p.s. and you'd be proud - I've used the leftover strip set segments (the greens, teals, yellow, and blues) to create a small lap quilt that I am HAND quilting with your freehand fans!

Take care! Glad to see Pokey doing well.

I'm sure your Doc has already checked these, but have your thyroid, b12, and ferritin levels checked. I've recently been battling fatigue as well and lo and behold all were out of whack.
