On a Bag, In a Box

What could be better than sleeping on a bag or sleeping in a box? Sleeping on a bag in a box. Sounds like a Dr Seuss story.

Notice all those little bite marks on the flaps of the box. Pokey loves to chew boxes. At least curled up like this, she doesn't have to stretch far to get a snack...

Today is the day that I finally get to dismantle the kitty charity box playground. It's been hard to keep track of what's in the "giveaway" pile and what's mine, but the items in the middle should be "theirs" at least until we hit the plastic containers full of scraps - mine, mine, mine.

Last night my copy of "Collaborative Quilting" by Marston and Moran arrived. Finally. Hmm, what to think. Gotta say, I don't buy into the "black and white fabrics give your eyes a place to rest" theory. Black would do that. A nice solid. Black and white just contributes to the busy-ness. Really wish they had shown the quilts on nice white pages instead of the strong colors - think that contributed to making my eyes hurt. It is a fun book tho and I do recommend it.

My sweetie was home sick yesterday. In the afternoon we watched "Notorious" - the Alfred Hitchcock movie with my beloved Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman - and I worked on my Halloween thready - it's just about finished so I'll be able to get it framed before we go. This project had stalled out because I wanted to couch more yarn on it and I just didn't have enough in Halloween colors. I still didn't get a really good orange that I liked, but I made do. I'll show you the pic when it's finished. [thready = a piece of fabric or canvas completely covered in stitches]

Isn't it amazing how sorting things out makes more mess? Pokey looks very cat-happy there!

Well done on nearly finishing your 'thready'. And you can take advantage of the cheap framing before you leave!

It may sound like Dr Seuss but anyone who owns a cat will understand. LOL!

My goodness wouldn't my cats LOVE to come play in that playground! That would be their idea of kitty heaven. Oh, but I forget. They have their own version of that right in my sewing room. And I don't even have the excuse of moving.

You must be counting down. I hope you'll have some help when the heavy duty packing needs to be done. Although, your kitty looks so comfortable, she may not want to go into a crate when the time comes.
Your thready is cute too.

My cats are the same... BUT RB only bite on the box when he is trying to say, "Give me cat food!" (Plastic will work too...)

Organizing, packing, moving. Oh my god. You have my sympathy. Not fun at all.

hope you don't close up a box with the cat inside and ship him that way :-)

When I first got my Marston & Moran book I too found the B&W not "calming" but having tried using it, its far from calming, but I'm finding it a spot I continue to gaze at and then go back to the rest of the quilt... I think "rest" is too passive a word for what its doing, but It does help with a sense of order while still participating in the loud/busy of the quilt....

Oh I"m so glad that is not me moving! I"d be a basket case!

I LOVE that lime green and pink bag Pokey is sleeping on though! I love lime green if I'm going to go with bright colors! And I love pink - it is so girly!

I don't like the black and white at all, but I also can't go with all the bright busy colors. I'm more a tone on tone type of girl I guess. But I guess if you have to bottom line it - I'm more of the muddy color kind of girl anyway! :)

Your kitty is beautiful! Don't envy all of the packing and moving you're doing. Nope...not I.

YES, please, please show a picture of the Halloween thready or flag beady framed. I would like to see it framed. Do you find it better somehow? Do you have to prep the piece for framing?

Good luck on your moving! I am sure it will go smoothly with your preplanning/organizing. Hope your kitties will move smoothly, too.

Thanks for your inspiration.

Morning Ton, love the Pokey picture..she is such a beautiful cat..*VBS* I remember well the "in a bag" antics. Just when you think it's safe to fold up the brown paper grocry bags, out pops a cat!
Our Mercy was nosey to the point that if you removed the 'frig crisper drawer, she'd hop into the opening to check it out. Did closing the door and waiting a minute or two change that?? No, not a chance. I think she'd have hopped in the dryer, given a change to do so.
Looks like the move is well underway..yah!!!
Happy to hear there is a bit of Halloween flavor in your days lately...LOL

That equilter site has great "Day of The Dead" fabric also..*VBS* I'm soooo tempted!

Boy, I can't wait until you start posting photos from Paris. I can enjoy it vicariously. Is Pokey from Egypt? She has such exotic coloring. She certainly has that box lid all fixed up right.

They always seem to find the most uncomfortable looking places to us, but they sleep there quite well! Go figure!

Cats are funny! I hate packing - and am putting it off for as long as I can :-) I agree with you - black and white prints on a busy quilt make my eyes go dizzy LOL - definitely NOT restful.

Kitty looks happy enough - boxes in the diet must agree with her. =) I'm glad to hear your comment on the black and white. I disagree with that, too, having just worked on a RR that was mostly black and white prints! I look forward to seeing the thready.

I am glad to find another cat who eats boxes. I've asked around, and couldn't find anyone who had such a cat. They all look at me funny when I tell them that ours loves to eat boxes. I have to hide boxes if I want them to stay in a presentable shape.
